Thanksgiving Ten Frame Freebie

Hello everyone! I just created two Thanksgiving ten frame activities. I plan on using them for one of my math tubs this week.

My students are using ten frames a lot for Math Workshop. We use them for whole group lessons as well as math stations. We are focusing on the number in the ten frame and seeing how many more we need to get to ten. Click on the image below to grab your copy. The image is not great, but the document is fine! Enjoy!

Gobble! Gobble! What's For Dinner?

Gobble, gobble! I am getting ready for my Thanksgiving theme this week. I have so many fun activities planned. Be sure to visit my pages from last year for some really fun Thanksgiving activities. Click on the Thanksgiving label on the left hand side of the page to grab them!

Also, I just uploaded a new reader to TPT. I used it last year, and it was such a hit with my kiddos that I thought maybe all of you would enjoy it, too! It discusses all of the yummy foods we eat on Thanksgiving and reviews several important sight words. The predictable text is great for your beginning reader. You can click on any of the images to go to my store.

The clip art is from DJ Inkers.

Also, I wanted to wish everyone a happy Veteran's Day. Please take a moment today to think of all of those who have served our country and the brave men and women who continue to serve our wonderful nation today. Pin It Now!

Scarecrows - Character and Setting Freebies

Hi there! Our theme this week is "Scarecrows." We have been having a ton of fun with this theme. For the past month, we have been focusing a lot on the main characters and supporting characters in the fictional books we read together. Today, I introduced the concept of "the setting" of a story. We mainly discussed where the story takes place. Scarecrow books are perfect because most of them take place on a farm so the setting is easy for children to identify. I made a few new activities for this theme. Enjoy!

The first book we read was Scarecrow by Cynthia Rylant. I pretty much love anything she writes! This book is fantastic! The illustrations are beautiful.

The next book is The Scarecrow's Hat by Ken Brown. My school librarian introduced this book to me
- another great one!

October Happenings in my Classroom!

Wow! It is November!! I have been very busy with my awesome kindergarten class. I thought I would share a short video showing you some of the fun stuff we did during the month of October. You will also be able to see my class recite our five rules for the day (whole brain teaching).

Also, as you all know my state of New York and our neighboring states were devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, we were fine here in upstate New York, but there are still so many residents who need our help. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers and consider helping in any way that you can. Thanks!
